The reason

Why people use it

  • The goal is usually stated as extending healthy years rather than treating a condition, which makes it structurally hard to measure.
  • Epitalon's reputation rests on telomerase and pineal-regulation claims plus reported survival effects in animals.
  • NAD+ and glutathione are used on the basis that both decline with age and both sit at the centre of energy metabolism and antioxidant defence.
The evidence

What the research shows

  • Epitalon's key studies come overwhelmingly from one Russian research group and have not been independently replicated — the single biggest weakness in the longevity peptide literature.
  • NAD+ precursor trials in humans consistently raise NAD+ levels, but have not demonstrated clinical benefit in healthy adults.
  • Intravenous and injected glutathione raises blood levels; evidence that this changes health outcomes is thin, and the skin-lightening use it is often marketed for has documented safety concerns.
  • Longevity outcomes require decades to measure, so no compound in this category can honestly claim human outcome evidence today.
  • Cartalax has almost no independent published research of any kind.
Reported use

How it is reported to be used

  • Reported use is cyclical — short courses once or twice a year — a pattern taken directly from the Russian peptide literature rather than from any dose-finding study.
  • Reported benefits are diffuse: sleep, energy, wellbeing. These are precisely the outcomes most vulnerable to expectancy effects.
  • Because there is no measurable endpoint, users generally cannot tell whether anything is happening.
