- BPC-157 is one of the most searched peptides online and one of the least supported by human protocol evidence. That contrast is the substance of this page.
- Evidence level
- Grade D — animal and in-vitro research; no adequate published human trials for musculoskeletal outcomes
- Population studied
- Rats and mice in the great majority of published studies. Early human work exists in inflammatory bowel disease only.
- Duration studied
- Animal studies typically ran days to weeks, matched to injury-model timelines.
- Route reported
- Animal studies used intraperitoneal, intramuscular, subcutaneous, oral and topical administration. Dosing in these studies is expressed per kilogram of animal body weight and is not transferable to people.

Adverse Events Reported
- No systematic human safety dataset exists.
- Pro-angiogenic activity in animal models raises unresolved questions about behaviour in the presence of undiagnosed malignancy.
- Research-use-only material adds risks of misidentification, contamination and incorrect concentration.
Limitations
- Animal healing models predict human musculoskeletal outcomes poorly.
- A large share of the literature comes from a small number of affiliated groups, limiting independent replication.
- BPC-157 appears among substances the FDA has identified as raising significant safety concerns in compounding, and it is prohibited in sport.
