Bacteriostatic Water vs Sterile Water
Two diluents that look identical and behave differently. The distinction is a preservative.

Sterile water contains no organisms at the point of manufacture and no preservative. Bacteriostatic water contains a small amount of benzyl alcohol, which inhibits bacterial growth after a container has been entered.
Why the difference matters in documentation
Because sterile water has nothing to inhibit growth, laboratory documentation for reconstituted material commonly treats a preservative-free solution as single-use, while a preserved diluent supports a documented multi-use window.
This is why published stability information always specifies the diluent used. A stability figure without a named diluent is incomplete.
Compatibility is compound-specific
Some peptides are documented as sensitive to particular diluents or to pH shifts. Manufacturer or reference documentation for the specific compound is the only reliable source.
